The March of Dimes’ 2016 March for Babies is underway, and is looking to add to the $1.8 billion the event has raised since it began in 1970. The annual event sees over one million people across the nation walk to raise money for research into preventing conditions and diseases that impact newborns and their mothers.
Participants can walk individually or as a team. The signup process begins at the March of Dimes website, where participants can start a team, join an existing team or register independently. All walkers make contact with sponsors who make donations supporting the walk.
Once signed up, participants then find an event being held in their local area through the March of Dimes website and sign up for it online. These events are generally held during the last few days of April on Saturdays and Sundays, and consist of walking a course of several miles through a local park or neighborhood.
