Join Kaiser Permanente’s Thrive Half Marathon & 5K on November 2, 2019, at 6:50 AM – 11 AM which is returning to San Diego for its third year! The course starts at the newest Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center and finishes at Ski Beach in Mission Bay to join the 5K finishers.

Discover Elfin Forest on October 20, 2019, at 10 AM – 11:30 AM and learn about the amazing wildlife and plants at the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. Walk on the lower creek trail and learn to enhance and observe the beauty of the Elfin Forest on their Interpretive Nature Walks.
Retired from law enforcement, Al is a native San Diegan and avid outdoorsman. Al has been trained as an interpretive guide, is a Master Educator for the Leave No Trace Center For Outdoor Ethics, a Chaparral Naturalist, and also teaches backpacking, hiking, and camping for Poway Adult School. Al currently volunteers on the Trail Patrol and Education team at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. Join Al on the third Sunday of every month and witness a rare testimony of Elfin Forest’s life and beauty. You’ll be glad you did!

Don’t miss out on the great competition at the 10th Anniversary San Diego International Dragon Boat Race on Sept. 28-29 at Tecolote Shores Mission Bay. Enjoy a lion dance, music and performances, plus food trucks, clothing, jewelry, paddling gear and more!
Dragon boating is a growing, global sport with crews of 16-20 paddling in a boat decorated with an ornately carved dragon head at the bow and a tail in the stern. During races, boats consist of a crew, drummer and steersman.

Rock the Bay San Diego Triathlon
Experience San Diego’s Bayfront at this year’s Rock the Bay San Diego Triathlon on September 8, 2019. Swim, bike and run along the boardwalk until the Embarcadero Marina Park. Register to be a racer and get the VIP Party package or volunteer! Will you be there?
Rock the Bay San Diego Triathlon is a sprint and Olympic distance triathlon race in downtown San Diego. The Sprint Course consists of a 500-meter swim, 9-mile cycle, and a 3.1-mile run. The Olympic Course consists of a 1,500-meter swim, 25-mile cycle, and a 6.2-mile run. An expo accompanies the event.
ROCK THIS TRI – This Rock Themed Triathlon Will Rock You from Start to finish! The 65′ Adventrous Yacht will be anchored out on the swim course to provide swimmers with Classic Rock, runners will enjoy the awesome tunes of Mystique near the Midway aircraft carrier, and Finishers will be Rocked into the Finish Line!
All Finishers will be Rock Stars and will receive a T-Shirt and Finisher Medal
This is Southern California at its best. This bay swim is supported by lifeguards and swim buddies. Come join us for the Sprint or International Distance Triathlon. Same location and great course as the Original TriRock San Diego!!

US Sand Sculpting Challenge & Dimensional Art Expo
The U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge and Dimensional Art Exposition are returning to San Diego’s downtown waterfront for 2019. World Master Sand Sculptors from the Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Latvia, and Russia will be here to challenge the best in the U.S. Be amazed and fall in love with their works of art. Come one, come all!
This will be the eighth year that one of the world’s most important sand-sculpting competitions will be held on this built-for-the-occasion beach, with over 300 tons of sand dumped on the pier on San Diego’s Big Bay. The 8th annual edition will be open to the public.

Bike the Bay 2019
Ride the bridge, Bike the Bay! Join the Bike the Bay 2019 and enjoy the opportunity to ride over the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. After the ride, everyone will return to San Diego for a festival with food, beverage, beer garden, and entertainment. Come join the fun!
On Sunday, August 25, 2019, this non-competitive community bike ride is for riders of all abilities and will take you on a scenic, and primarily flat ride, around the San Diego Bay via the Bayshore Bikeway. Along the way, riders will travel through the surrounding cities of Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City before finishing back at the start/finish line at Embarcadero Marina Park in downtown San Diego.
